Here's the one from last week with plenty of discussion: Really starting to suspect some of them are subtle advertising. There's like multiple threads like this every week.įeel like have this thread like every week now. Definitely learn over Final Cut, which I haven't seen used on a professional job in years.īut I do agree with another commenter that these posts are starting to come off as Blackmagic marketing posts. It's definitely worth every editor learning in order to stay current with the technology. Resolve has been making huge strides in usability and speed, and is definitely making market gains, but it seems to be a long way from overtaking Premiere at this point. Also, Fusion is great for compositing, but is inferior to After Effects for motion graphics. While the price for Resolve is appealing for people on the lower budget tier, the price of an Adobe subscription is like a day or two of work, so I don't see that being a huge factor for most professionals, especially when it includes industry standards like Photoshop, Illustrator, and of course After Effects. I kind of wonder if it's just a vocal minority having these problems. I've used Premiere for years and never had any of the major bugs or sluggish performance issues that others seem to have. Ffs blackmagic, let us re-arrange the windows. But come on, the NLE still has a long way to go, fusion is far from an AE replacement. The free version was definitely a genius move. Resolve is the newest, feels snappier, feels more optimized for the current gen of cameras.

I use PR for offline editing, i use resolve for transcoding, conforming, color correction, finishing on long-form stuff. Why would all "the market" even agree on a single tool? It hasnt agreed on a single tool for my entire career. There's too many variables, the "market" is actually a thousand splinters of "markets" that dont all necesarily talk to each other (or even know the others exist). I remember FCPx being "the future of editing" (and I like fcpx, but I dont see it growing much these days).

I've been reading about avid's imminent demise for the full 15 years of my career. This whole "who's gonna dominate the market" conversation is lame. Looking for something more local?
